Prior to this he was employed for 33 years in HMRC where he mostly worked in financial investigation anti money laundering and asset recovery roles.

He was HMRC’s senior technical trainer in POCA when he left, and for two or three years gave expert evidence in money laundering cases.

For the last six years or so he has been an associate trainer with the OECD’s Tax Crime Academy

Providing training globally particularly in Europe, Africa and the Asia Pacific.

Ben Fairhead, Partner at Pinsent Masons LLP

Ben is a Partner in Pinsent Masons' highly ranked litigation practice based in the firm's London office.  He is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers and the Pension Scams Industry Group.

Ben specialises in commercial litigation with a particular focus on pensions-related disputes including professional negligence claims, proceedings by trustees to recover scheme assets and seek court directions, and actions involving the Pensions Regulator.

He has extensive experience of acting and advising in relation to pension fraud / pension liberation matters, acting in the majority of reported cases in this area. This has been both through acting for professional trustees dealing with the aftermath of pension scams, as well as advising providers and trustees grappling with difficult requests to transfer out of schemes into suspected scams or claims against them after pension funds have been lost.

In professional negligence disputes, Ben has acted for both claimants and defendants and often helps resolve matters before formal proceedings are commenced. Ben covers the full spectrum of proceedings from pre-action to trial and costs recovery, including obtaining urgent injunctive relief, as well as handling mediation and other out-of-court settlements.
